    With the exception of a live orchestra, I never saw anyone read sheet music at a major event. The pianist could have easily recovered if he had just played the major chord progressions on every down beat, opposed to playing the melodic lines.

    Because the issue with using music while you play involves staggering to get back to where you are in the music when you are more accustomed to playing without it
